HYDERABAD: A delegation of Textiles Department of Maharashtra appreciated the schemes being implemented in Telangana for the welfare and development of weavers and said that geo-tagging scheme of looms will be implemented in Maharashtra. The Textiles Commissioner, Government of Maharashtra deputed a team of officers to Telangana to observe the weaving techniques and designs being adopted by the weavers in Telangana, besides studying the schemes being implemented by the State Government.
The team visited Sircilla and Siddipet on Sunday and interacted with the weavers. During the visit, he observed the techniques and types of yarn used by the weavers in the production of Golbhama and Ramappa silk sarees, apart from the wages being earned by the weavers. The team also visited the Textile Park and Apparel Park in Sircilla and interacted with powerloom weavers to learn about the benefits of the Chenetha Mithra, Netanna Bhima and Netannaku Cheyutha schemes apart from geo-tagging.
On Monday, the team visited Pochampally Handloom Weavers Cooperative Society, Yadadri district and interacted with the weavers on weaving various Ikkat designs and patterns in silk and cotton.
