Maldives: Rioters, sabotage and commotion entered the program organized on Yoga Day



Male, June 21: Some miscreants entered the event organized on the occasion of Yod Day in Maldivian capital Male on Tuesday and disrupted the celebrations. Due to the uproar of these people, the program had to be stopped midway. These people also misbehaved with the people here. The video of the incident has also surfaced. At the same time, the Maldivian government has ordered an inquiry into it and has spoken of action against the culprits.

The event was organized by the Indian Mission in Maldives in association with the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Sports and Community Development. Diplomats, government officials and Maldivian ministers were present at the event.

Male police fired tear gas to disperse the agitated crowd and brought the situation under control. Maldivian President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih issued a statement saying that an investigation has been launched into the incident at Galolu Stadium. The Maldivian Police has started an investigation into the incident that happened at Galolu Stadium this morning. This is being considered as a matter of serious concern and action will be taken against those responsible for it.
