The Delhi State Election Commission said, “The conduct of any exit poll during or after the poll on December 4 and the publication or dissemination of information through print or electronic media shall be prohibited.” Exit polls are not in the interest of free and fair elections, they influence voters. It is imperative to regulate opinion and exit polls in the spirit of the provisions contained in the RP Act, 1951.

The release issued by the State Election Panel said, “In exercise of powers under Section 243K read with Section 243ZA and Section 7 of the DMC Act, 1957, the State Election Commissioner has prohibited the display of any election matter including the results of any opinion poll or the results of any other survey.

The counting of votes for the Delhi MCD elections will take place on December 7. Delhi MCD has been winning the elections since 2007. In the last civic polls in 2017, the BJP had won 181 wards. While the Aam Aadmi Party had won 48. Congress could win only 27 seats.
