Amaravati, Nov 25: A total of 2,139 cases related to consumer rights have been resolved in the last 10 months, Civil Supplies Minister Karumuri Venkata Nageswara Rao said after attending a meeting at the state secretariat on Thursday. The meeting of the State Consumer Protection Council has been held for the first time. Talking to reporters after the meeting, he said that the state government has accorded priority to protect the rights of consumers as is evident from the amendment in the Consumer Protection Act. He is living even though he has bought the goods or availed the services.
Urging people to make use of the law, he said, “Earlier there was no such facility, but now a consumer can file a complaint online.” The Minister directed the officers to create more awareness about the amendments made in the Consumer Act. On food adulteration, he said that 15 mobile labs would be started in Vizag and Vijayawada.
