MP Karti Chidambaram reached the High Court against the order of the Special Court

New Delhi, June 05. Congress MP Karti Chidambaram did not get relief from the trial court in a case registered by the Enforcement Directorate in the alleged Chinese visa scam. After which he has moved the High Court on Saturday.

In the High Court, the Congress MP has challenged the June 3 order of the court in which his anticipatory bail plea was rejected.
The ED had registered a case against Congress MP Karti Chidambaram and others under the Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in 2011 in connection with an alleged scam related to the issuance of visas to 263 Chinese nationals. Karti’s father P. Chidambaram was the Home Minister when the scam happened. The ED is now proceeding rapidly with the investigation in the case. The special PMLA court had dismissed the petition of MP Kirti. After not getting relief from the lower court, he has now moved the High Court.
High Court may hear on Monday
In the case of Congress MP Karti Chidambaram, the special court of MP MLAs had rejected his anticipatory bail application. On Monday, Karti’s lawyers are planning to demand an early hearing on the plea before the vacation bench. Kirti’s petition is likely to be heard in the Delhi High Court on Monday.
Alleged bribe of 50 lakhs for giving visas to Chinese citizens
Recently, a case was registered against Kirti Chidambaram under the Money Laundering Act (PMLA) taking cognizance of the FIR registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). He has been accused by the Enforcement Directorate of receiving a bribe of Rs 50 lakh from a Punjab-based firm through his chartered accountant and other associates for getting Indian visas to 263 Chinese nationals.
