National Fisheries Development Board Award: Andhra Pradesh shines by winning five awards

National Fisheries Development Board Andhra Pradesh won five awards which are given annually by the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB). Nellore has been adjudged as the best maritime district. Thirumeni Naga Raju selected as Best Marine Farmer (Seabass – Eluru). Saptagiri Hatchery in Kakinada district was adjudged as the best hatchery. Naresh Kumar of Reddy Drugs & Labs at Kovvur in East Godavari district and Kavitha Reddy of Artemia Technology Infusion were also honored.

National Fisheries Development Board

NFDB under the Department of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India, is given the award on the World Fisheries Day celebrated on 21 November. The awards are given in selected categories to honor fish farmers who have contributed to the development of fisheries sector by adopting advanced technologies and practices in aquaculture and fisheries.

Leading states in fisheries sector- Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, West Bengal and maritime states like Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Dadra Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, Lakshadweep Islands and Puducherry Union Territories including had applied for the Best Performing Marine.
