New Delhi, 01 June: The Enforcement Directorate has reopened the National Herald case file. Along with this, summons were sent to Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi and party MP Rahul Gandhi. Both the leaders are likely to be questioned on June 8. The investigation of this case was closed in 2015 itself, in such a situation, after 7 years of re-investigation, the Congress has become an attacker on the Modi government. At the same time, it was called a step to suppress the voice of the opposition.

In the matter, Congress leader Randeep Surjewala said that the National Herald newspaper was started in 1942, at that time the British tried to suppress it, today the Modi government is also doing the same and ED is being used for this. ED has given notice to our president Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. We are not going to bow down to this, but we will fight with our chest. Surjewala further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is behind this entire conspiracy. ED has become his pet agency. Giving notice to Sonia and Rahul Gandhi is a cowardly act.

In the case, Abhishek Manu Singhvi said that on June 8, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi have been called by the ED for questioning. The Congress President will definitely be involved in this investigation. Whereas Rahul is still abroad, if he comes back then he will also go, else he will ask ED for more time.

Is this the whole matter?
The National Herald newspaper was started in 1938. It started several times and then stopped. In 2008, the newspaper was closed again and the ownership of the newspaper was given to Associate Journals. This company took a loan of Rs 90 crore from Congress without interest, but the newspaper still did not start. In 2012, its ownership was transferred to Yank India. Sonia and Rahul held 76 per cent stake in this company. It is alleged that Young India acquired Herald’s property for 50 lakhs, while its value was around 1600 crores. After this the matter also went to court.
