Nepal’s Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has won the trust vote in the country’s parliament on Tuesday. Voting on trust vote for the post of Prime Minister was held in the Parliament of Nepal. Pushp Kamal Dahal has got 268 votes in support. He did not get only 2 votes out of 270 votes. Prachanda has got the support of more than 99 percent members in the House of Representatives of Nepal, so it is being described as a rare case in the country’s political history.

Prachanda’s party got 39 seats

Such an example has hardly been found in any democratic country so far. Let us tell you that Nepali Congress has 89 MPs in the 275-member House of Representatives of Nepali Parliament, while UML has 79 MPs. While Prachanda’s party has 32 MPs. Prachanda needed 138 votes for a clear majority in the House, while he claimed the support of 169 MPs while forming the government. In such a situation, he got 99 more votes, which shows that he has also got the support of the opposition. According to the report, all political parties except People’s Front Nepal and Nepal Workers and Peasants Party have voted in support of Prime Minister Dahal.

Opposition party also supported

Earlier PM Sher Bahadur Deuba’s Nepali Congress, KP Sharma Oli’s Nepali Communist Party-UML and Prachanda’s Nepali Communist Party-Maoist along with other parties have also supported PM Dahal. Before winning the trust vote in the House of Representatives, PM Prachanda had said that he wanted to pursue politics of consensus, cooperation and mutual trust instead of politics of rejection, disrespect and retaliation.

Prachanda became PM for the third time

The 68-year-old leader of the Nepal Communist Party-Maoist Center was sworn in as the prime minister for the third time on December 26. Earlier he became the Prime Minister from 2008 to 2009 and 2016 to 2017. After the general elections held in Nepal in November, no political party got a majority. Although Sher Bahadur Deuba’s name was definitely leading in this race, Pushp Kamal Dahal refused to support the ruling Maoist Center and left the alliance.
