There was a big reshuffle in the Odisha government’s cabinet on Saturday, where all the ministers resigned after the instructions of the CM. After this, new ministers were elected under the leadership of Naveen Patnaik, including 13 cabinet ministers and 8 ministers of state with independent charge. On Sunday, all the 21 ministers took the oath of office and secrecy at the convention center of Lok Seva Bhawan. Soon the portfolios will also be distributed among all the ministers.

Actually BJD is eyeing 2024 Lok Sabha and state assembly elections. Because of which CM Naveen Patnaik decided to reshuffle the cabinet on completion of three years of the government. After this the resignations of all the 20 ministers were taken. Jagannath Sarka was the first to take oath as a cabinet minister at the swearing-in ceremony on Sunday. He is a two-time MLA. Earlier he had got the responsibility of Minister of State, but now he has been promoted.

Jagannath Saraka, Niranjan Pujari, Ranendra Pratap Swain, Pramila Malik, Usha Devi, Prafulla Kumar Malik, Pratap Kesari Deb, Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Pradeep Kumar Malik, Naba Kishori Das, Ashok Chandra Panda, Tukuni Sahu and Rajendra Dholakia took oath. Apart from this, the names of Sameer Ranjan Das, Ashwini Kumar Patra, Preetiranjan Ghadai, Shrikant Sahu, Tusharkanti Behera, Rohit Pujari, Rita Sahu and Basanti Hembram are included in the list of ministers with independent charge.

Brilliant victory in the by-election
On the other hand, recently by-elections were held in the Brajrajnagar assembly seat of Odisha. In which BJD won a landslide victory and its candidate Alka Mohanty defeated her opponent by 66,122 votes. In this, the opposition party BJP reached the third position. However, the performance of Congress was satisfactory in this election, where Kishor Patel came second with 27831 votes.
