Amaravati: The Odisha government plans to spend Rs 1062 crore this year to strengthen hospital infrastructure in the state. 863 hospital projects have been selected from sub-centre to district headquarter hospital (DHH) level for infra upgradation. According to the State Action Plan 2022-23, additional units will be constructed in nine DHHs at a cost of Rs 26.7 million. These include Rs 240 crore for six sub-divisional hospitals including buildings and Rs 596 crore for 60 CHCs.
The decision to upgrade hospital infrastructure under the Chief Minister’s Health Service Mission has been taken in view of the recently released Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS) guidelines for improving the quality of healthcare in view of the increasing burden of non-communicable diseases .
Department of Health & Family Welfare has taken up the task of upgrading five PHCs/CHCs at a cost of Rs.4.6 crore, construction of 47 PHC and staff quarter buildings as per IPHS norms at a cost of Rs.35.57 crore, 40 sub-centres at a cost of Rs.18.4 crore It has also been decided to construct and provide buildings. Apart from basic facilities at 696 primary health centers and sub-centres at a cost of Rs 82.42 crore, residential and non-residential complexes will be constructed at a cost of Rs 58 crore under the AYUSH department.
