Bhubaneswar, November 24: Odisha government is going to launch an e-detection portal on national highways from January 1, 2023, to curb vehicles plying without valid documents. To ply a vehicle on the road, it is mandatory to have valid documents like registration certificate, fitness certificate and permit, insurance and pollution under control certificate (PUSU) for all vehicles and driving license for all vehicle drivers.
Joint Commissioner Transport (Technical) Deepti Ranjan Patra said that the Transport Department has developed an e-detection portal to detect such vehicles plying through National Highways and State Highways in Odisha. He said- The purpose of the portal is to collect data from various toll gates on national highways. In the first phase, toll gates on NH have been integrated with the portal.
Later, data will also be collected from the mining and industrial sectors. Patra said the data would be collected, analyzed with details in the Vahan portal and automatically challaned for vehicles plying without valid documents. He said that when a vehicle passes through the toll gate, the data will be collected as per the data received through FASTag and the images captured. Patra urged the vehicle owners to keep the vehicle documents updated to avoid penalty.
