Odisha: Silk yarn is making rural tribal population strong, women are changing their fate

New Delhi, June 22 : The New Delhi-headquartered Resham Suta is a part of the ‘Powering Livelihood’ program jointly run by the Willgro Innovation Foundation and the Council for Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW). It is a social enterprise that innovates, manufactures and supplies renewable energy based rural livelihood enabling machines. Although the head office of Silk Yarn is located in New Delhi. The enterprise has set up its dedicated ‘Agri-Silk Division’ based in Ranchi and has more than 40 on-ground technicians working in different states of India.

The mission and vision of Silk Yarn is to enable India’s rural entrepreneurs to profitably produce a variety of silk and handloom products with the help of networks and technology. In addition, enterprise to reduce poverty facilitates the creation of permanent employment in rural areas. Focuses on empowering the rural population especially women through self-employment opportunities in reeling, spinning and weaving. Silk Yarn is focusing its activities with and for rural beneficiaries in some of the poorest areas of the country.
