New Delhi, 19 September. The country’s leading app-based taxi service provider Ola is going to lay off a large number of employees. According to the report, the company has served notices to 500 employees. This notice has been given to the employees of the software team. According to sources, the company is going to show the way out to 500 employees of different verticals of the software team of the app. These employees are working for different verticals of the app. The company has taken this big decision in view of the way in which the sales of Ola electric scooter have seen a decline.

Ola EV launched last year
Let us tell you that the electric scooter launch was announced by Ola in the month of December last year itself. For the past few months, the company is being reinvented. The company had earlier laid off 2000 employees, these people used to work for the business related to Ola cab service. Over 30 senior executives have resigned from the company in the last two years. There are also many such people who were working with the leadership team of the company’s founder Bhavish Agarwal.

5000 employees target
In a statement issued by the company on Monday, it has been said that Ola Electric is continuously focusing on its non-software engineering domain, under which work is being done on manufacturing of vehicles, cells, batteries etc. Although the company has not said how many employees it will lay off, but information has been given by the company that it currently has 2000 engineers and it aims to take this to 5000 in the next 18 months.

An Ola spokesperson declined to comment on the news that the company may lay off the number of employees. In a statement, the company said Ola Electric, India’s fastest growing EV company, is shifting its focus to non-software engineers. In the month of March, Ola’s S-1 scooter caught fire, after which 8 different such incidents were also reported. After which a high-level committee was formed to probe it.
