New Delhi, November 1: Odisha Chief Minister and BJD President Naveen Patnaik will campaign for the Padampur bypoll on December 2 and seek votes for party candidate Barsha Singh Bariha.
According to Bargarh MLA Devesh Acharya, the Chief Minister will address three public meetings in three blocks Padampur, Jharbandh and Paikmal. It may be noted that ten candidates including BJD’s Barsa Singh Bariha, BJP’s Pradeep Purohit and Congress candidate Satyabusan Sahu are in the fray for the Padampur bypoll. 1,27,965 women and 12 third gender.
Padampur constituency has 74 sensitive (Maoist affected) booths and 78 sensitive booths. The Election Commission has declared dry day in the district from 4 pm on 3rd December to 4 pm on 5th December and on the day of counting of votes (8th December). He said that a paid holiday has been declared for the voters of the assembly constituency on the day of polling. The polling will be held on December 5 at 319 polling stations between 7 am and 4 pm. The bypoll was necessitated after the death of BJD MLA Bijaya Ranjan Singh Bariha on October 3. The counting of votes and declaration of results will take place on December 8.
