Mahatma Gandhi was a priest of non-violence and Mahatma Gandhi asked him on several occasions to negotiate with the British using the path of non-violence. At the same time, Subhash Chandra Bose was supported by many Congress leaders for snatching independence violently. This was the reason that a large majority of the members of the Congress Working Committee resigned in protest, following which Subhash Chandra Bose resigned as party president, after which he was expelled from the Congress party.
