Paush Purnima 2023 (Magh Snan): From Paush Purnima to Magh Purnima, one month Magh Snan is performed. This time Magh Snan will be done from 6 January to 5 February. The great importance of bathing in the holy places, lakes, pilgrimage areas etc. near you or at home in a pure and methodical manner has been explained throughout this month. It is believed that by taking a bath at the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj in the month of Kimagh, one attains merit equal to performing ten thousand Ashwamedha Yagya. Waking up in the Brahma Muhurta in the month of Magh and bathing in holy rivers like Ganga, Narmada, Yamuna, Kshipra etc. sins are destroyed. In this month, good deeds arise by doing charity, serving the sick and the disabled. Planetary pain also goes away from Magha bath. Worshiping God in this month opens the door of salvation.

The importance of Magh Snan increases even more in this Gupta Navratri. These days many Siddha Saints attain many Siddhis by doing Kalpavas on the banks of rivers. During this, a virtuous life should be lived with restraint, patience and silence. In this month, Makar Sankranti marks the end of the sun’s uttarayan and ends Malmas.

It is not possible for all human beings to go and bathe on the banks of holy rivers, so the virtue of bathing in holy rivers can be attained at one’s own home. You wake up in the Brahma Muhurta and bathe with the water of holy rivers (Ganga water is available in almost all the houses). Worship the deities of the house by wearing pure clothes and feed or donate food to the poor as per your capacity. Feed green fodder to cows. Feed the birds. This will give you virtuous fruits.
