Senior YSRC leader and government advisor (public affairs) Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy on Thursday said the party welcomes the reunification of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. “If there is a possibility of reversing the cycle of time or if the Supreme Court directs the merger of the two states as the bifurcation was not done as per Article 3 of the Constitution, we will be the first to welcome it,” he said.

Responding to former MP Undavalli Arunkumar’s demand that the state include the state in the petition filed regarding the AP Reorganization Act, Sajjala clarified, “Our party as well as the YSRC-led state government will take both the states together.” There is a possibility… Since this is not possible after so many years of bifurcation, we want to fight for justice for the state and resolution of pending issues (Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act).

Noting that the former MP’s remarks were made to target Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for some reason, he said, “The fact is that the Congress and the TDP have done injustice to the state. It was the YSRC alone which fought against the partition of India.

We and CM Jagan Mohan Reddy are also unhappy with the way the state was divided. If there is any possibility of reunification, the YSRC will be the first to welcome it,” he quipped and said the party is making all efforts to fulfill the assurances of the AP Reorganization Act and provide justice to the state. Reacting to Sajjala’s comments, BJP state general secretary S Vishnuvardhan Reddy said the YSRC and TRS have once again started a political drama.

YSRC has submitted a petition in SC to close pleas related to bifurcation issues, but talks about providing justice to the state with respect to APRA assurances. They are cheating people with their double standards,” he alleged.

Coming down heavily on Andhra Pradesh government advisor Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy, TRS leaders alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was behind the conspiracy due to which the Andhra Pradesh leader is making such statements time and again. Rejecting Sajjala’s statement, TRS MLC and Rythu Bandhu Committee President Palla Rajeshwar Reddy said that Sajjala did not express her opinion casually. “There is a bigger conspiracy going on as Modi had said in Parliament that a ‘mother was killed for giving birth to a child’ in reference to the bifurcation of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh,” he said.

CPI Telangana secretary Kunmaneni Sambasiva Rao, in his reaction to Sajjala’s remark, said that it was a part of the PM’s special agenda to sweep the unresolved issues of AP Reorganization Act under the carpet and create a rift between the people of the two states. Meanwhile, CLP House Leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said, “It is not a new thing for AP leaders to make such statements. Congress stands firmly against such statements.
