Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Bengaluru on Friday. Here PM Modi unveiled a 108 feet high bronze statue of founder ‘Nadaprabhu’ Kempegowda. This statue of Kempegowda has been installed at Terminal 2 of Bengaluru’s International Airport, built at a cost of Rs 5,000 crore. Kempegowda founded the city of Bangalore in 1537. Who is Kempegowda?
Nadaprabhu Kempegowda was the ruler of Vijayanagara kingdom. He founded Bangalore in his empire in 1537 and built many stones in Kannada language. Morasu was the father of Vokkaliga Campenanje Gowdake Kempegowda, who ruled Yelhankanadu for 70 years. In the 15th century, Kempegowda’s family shifted from Kanchi in Tamil Nadu to Karnataka and ruled Vijayanagara after his father, Kempegowda ruled Vijayanagara for 46 years.
