Digvijaya Singh row over surgical strike remark: A day after his comments on the surgical strikes conducted by the Indian Army in 2016, senior Congress leader Digvijaya Singh said that he has the highest respect for the Indian Army. Congress has now distanced itself from Digvijay Singh’s statement seeking proof of surgical strike. Former Madhya Pradesh chief minister Digvijaya Singh was walking along with party spokesperson Jairam Ramesh on the Bharat Jodo Yatra when he was heckled by reporters and questioned about his statement on surgical strikes. To which Digvijaya Singh said, “I have the highest respect for the defense forces.”
When the journalists were about to ask more questions to Digvijay Singh, Jairam Ramesh pushed Digvijay Singh back and himself came on the mike and started speaking.
Congress MP Jairam Ramesh barred journalists from asking more questions, saying the party has answered everything in the matter. Apart from this, whatever information you want, whatever you want to ask, ask questions to Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Jairam Ramesh said, “We have answered all the questions. You go and ask questions to the Prime Minister.”
