POS machine mandatory in liquor shops, contractors not installing will be punished

Contractors who do not install POS (Point of Sales) machines at liquor shops in Haryana will be punished. The government has directed liquor contractors to install POS machines by December 31. So far machines have been installed at 1700 out of 2500 shops. Flow meters will be installed in all distilleries by 28 February 2023 next year. Flow-meters have been installed in some distilleries.

Deputy CM Dushyant Chautala said that Haryana is the first state in the country where POS machines are being installed at liquor shops. CCTV cameras have been installed in the distilleries plant. All these are being monitored through CCTV cameras by setting up a control room at the headquarters. This time there has been a record collection in excise and GST. All records will be broken by the end of the financial year.

There has been an increase of about 23 per cent in excise and GST collections so far as compared to last year. During the excise year 2019-20, Rs 6361 crore, excise-revenue of Rs 6790 crore has been received in the year 2020-21. 7936 in the year 2021-22 and Rs 5736 crore has been collected so far this year. It is estimated that in the current excise year, Rs 9500 crore will be collected and will touch the benchmark. This year the target as revenue was kept at Rs 8900 crore only.

According to Chautala, if we do a comparative study on the basis of consumption and production, Haryana has become the number one state in the country in terms of collecting GST revenue. Our state has shifted from Module-I to Module-II in the matter of GST last year. Last year till November 14, 2021, Rs 14,302 crore GST was collected, this year till now Rs 18,290 crore has been collected.
