Where the prisoners lodged in the jails will get all the health facilities. In this episode, a hospital will be built in Gurdaspur Jail. Punjab Police Housing Corporation Department has taken a step in this direction. This work will be done with the help of private companies. The project will cost Rs 2 crore. If everything goes well, work will start in February. This hospital will be ready in 12 months. Police will act as the nodal agency in the project. All the formalities in this regard have been completed.

The government has been working on several projects for a long time to rejuvenate the jails of the state. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann himself is now looking after this department. Sometime ago he had visited the jails and reviewed all the facilities. During this, he made it clear to the officials that the jails would be reformed. Along with this, all the facilities will be given to the prisoners inside the jails. After this work started in this direction. The logic behind building a hospital in Gurdaspur Jail is also that the area is border. Also big cities like Chandigarh are far away. Serious criminals are lodged in jail. The marking and map of the place for the hospital has been prepared. Lay-out plan has been made.

Officials say that the effort behind getting this work done by private companies is that it should be completed within the stipulated time. Higher officials themselves will monitor the project. DGP Gaurav Yadav has already made it clear that steps are being taken to reform the jails. Work is being done on the said project in this direction. It may be remembered that prisoners from many jails in Punjab have absconded by going to hospitals on the pretext of treatment. After this, action was taken against many officers.

Petrol pump opened in Hoshiarpur jail
Punjab Police has opened a petrol pump in Hoshiarpur Jail a few days ago. It was opened in collaboration with the Indian Oil Company. All the work in this is done by the inmates of the jail. Similarly, it was also opened in Ludhiana Jail. At the same time, the government plans to open a showroom on the lines of Chandigarh Police. Where the goods made by the prisoners are sold. 30 thousand prisoners in 26 jails
There are 26 jails established in the state. About 30,000 prisoners are lodged in these. All the jails are having more prisoners than their capacity. At the same time, now the police department is preparing to build a new jail. This jail will be set up in Nawanshahr. The jail will be set up about 30 km from the city. Gangsters and terrorists will be kept in it. It will be set up with the help of the Central Government.
