The three-day Rajasthan International Expo will start from Monday, March 20, at the Trade Facilitation Center in Boronada, Jodhpur. The expo will be formally inaugurated by Chief Guest Honorable Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on March 21. Industry and Commerce Minister Shakuntala Rawat gave this information at Udyog Bhawan in Jaipur on Saturday.
Minister Shakuntala Rawat informed that Chief Minister Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot has conceptualized Rajasthan International Expo with the objective of providing an opportunity to the handicraft exports of the state to showcase its dominance at the global level. Gehlot had announced the organization of Rajasthan International Expo in his annual budget. This expo to be organized in Jodhpur is an embodiment of this budget announcement. On this occasion, Rajeev Arora, Chairman, Rajasthan Small Scale Industries Corporation (RAJSICO) and Rajasthan Export Promotion Council (REPC); Industries and Commerce Commissioner, Government of Rajasthan Mahendra Kumar Parakh and REPC Vice Chairman, Mahavir Pratap Sharma were also present.
Industries and Commerce Minister further said that Rajasthan International Expo will prove to be a milestone in the field of exports in the state. From handicrafts to wooden and iron furniture, textiles, agro and food products, ceramics and other products will be displayed on a wide scale in this international expo. Jodhpur is called the Handicraft Capital of India. Wooden, Iron related handicraft items from all over the country are exported from Jodhpur. Apart from this, recently the Government of India has approved a special assistance of Rs 95 crore for capacity expansion of the previously operated Inland Container Depot in Jodhpur.
