The Supreme Court today ordered the release of 6 convicts involved in the assassination of former PM Rajiv Gandhi. The Supreme Court ordered the release of all the convicts using Article 142 on the basis of good conduct and degrees taken in jail. But the Congress has come out in protest against this decision. Congress leader Ashok Singhvi held a press conference regarding this today. During this, he said that we stand by that approach because according to us the sovereignty, integrity, identity of the nation is involved in the assassination of a sitting or former prime minister. Perhaps this was the reason why the central government never agreed with the state government’s view.
