The Supreme Court today ordered the release of 6 convicts involved in the assassination of former PM Rajiv Gandhi. The Supreme Court ordered the release of all the convicts using Article 142 on the basis of good conduct and degrees taken in jail. But the Congress has come out in protest against this decision. Congress leader Ashok Singhvi held a press conference regarding this today. During this, he said that we stand by that approach because according to us the sovereignty, integrity, identity of the nation is involved in the assassination of a sitting or former prime minister. Perhaps this was the reason why the central government never agreed with the state government’s view.

During the press conference, Singhvi said that this decision of the Supreme Court has shaken the consciousness of the country. There is no absolute right of release. Because it all depends on the circumstances. He said that now we will use the rights of law that we have from us. Let us tell you that earlier Jairam Rakesh had also objected to the decision of the Supreme Court.
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh said that the decision of the Supreme Court is unacceptable and completely wrong. Congress criticizes this order. Terming the apex court’s decision as unfortunate, he said that the Supreme Court has not acted in the spirit of India. Congress considers this decision unforgivable. Let us tell you that S Nalini, Jayakumar, RP Ravichandran, Robert Pias, Suthendraraja and Sriharan will be released after the order of the apex court. All of them were found to have good conduct in jail. Along with this, all have also achieved many degrees during their stay in jail.
