A team led by FUTATS President Professor R Mallikarjuna Reddy met the Governor of Telangana and Chancellors of Telangana Universities in Hyderabad on Tuesday and apprised them about the shortage of teaching staff in Telangana Universities. He said that due to shortage of regular faculty, universities would lose NAAC grading, RUSA funds and teaching and research opportunities would be hampered.
Let us tell you that the state government had sanctioned 1061 teaching posts to all 15 universities in 2018 and the recruitment was not started due to legal issues in the implementation of reservation. Recently, Telangana State has established “Telangana University Common Recruitment Board” to recruit teachers for all state universities. A bill related to the board is now awaiting the assent of the governor.
