Republic Day: Over 11000 military personnel honored with honorary ranks

The military personnel who have been given these honorary titles by the army. Out of them, 2266 military personnel are currently serving in the army.

Republic Day: On the occasion of Republic Day this year, more than 11,000 military personnel were awarded honorary ranks. Every year serving and retired personnel are awarded honorary ranks in recognition of their distinguished services to the military. Apart from this, 901 policemen have been awarded Police Medal on Republic Day. In this, 140 policemen were given police medals for gallantry.

The military personnel who have been given these honorary titles by the army. Out of them, 2266 military personnel are currently serving in the army. 437 personnel have been awarded the title of Honorary Captain. Whereas, 1823 military personnel have been given the rank of honorary lieutenant. Apart from this, 8760 retired military personnel have been awarded with different honorary titles of the army.

Out of 8760 retired army personnel who have been awarded honorary titles, 1307 personnel have been awarded honorary captaincy, 197 honorary lieutenant, 2951 personnel honorary subedar major, 703 honorary subedar and 3602 personnel honorary naib subedar.

And 901 policemen have been awarded the Police Medal. In this, 140 policemen were given police medals for gallantry. Apart from this, 93 policemen were awarded President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PPM) and 668 for Meritorious Service (PM). The policemen who were awarded for bravery. Of these, 80 were awarded for service in Naxal-affected areas and 45 in Jammu and Kashmir.

Of these, 48 are from CRPF, 31 are from Maharashtra Police. Apart from this, 25 are from Jammu and Kashmir, nine from Jharkhand, seven from Delhi Police. Apart from this, there are other BSF and policemen from other states.
