New Delhi, 31st May: Now the cases of monkeypox in the countries battling Corona have increased the tension. Although no new case of monkeypox has been reported in India so far, but as a precaution, the Union Health Ministry has issued a guideline to the states and union territories regarding the management of monkeypox.

The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Tuesday issued guidelines to states and union territories on the management of monkeypox disease. Till now no case of monkey pox has been reported in India. The guideline has been issued amid a spurt in cases across the world. The ministry said that the clinical samples will have to be sent to the laboratory of the National Institute of Virology (NIV), Pune, through the Integrated Disease Surveillance Program Network.

Contacts should be monitored for the onset of signs/symptoms at least daily for a period of 21 days (as per case definition) from the last contact with a patient or their contaminated material during the infectious period as per the guidelines .
