PM Modi recalled conversations with Bal Thackeray and said such memories are ‘to be cherished forever’. He said that Bal Thackeray dedicated his life for public welfare. According to PM Modi, he will always remember his conversation with the Maratha leader.

Significantly, Shiv Sena was recently divided into two factions. Shiv Sena MLAs led by Eknath Shinde revolted after which Shiv Sena was divided into two. Shinde, supported by the BJP and his MLAs, became the chief minister after securing the majority mark. Former Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had to be content with the post of Deputy Chief Minister despite BJP having more MLAs. The second faction of Shiv Sena is headed by Bal Thackeray’s son Uddhav Thackeray.
