UK-based SRAM & MRAM Group Vice Chairman Guruji Kumaran Swamy on Saturday said the group will invest Rs 2 lakh crore to set up a semiconductor unit in Odisha. He announced this at the ‘Make in Odisha’ (MIO) conference, 2022 here.
Swamy and the company’s Odisha in-charge Devdutt Singh Deo said the group would invest Rs 30,000 crore in the first phase. Earlier, he met Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik and briefed him about the proposed project. He also discussed the project in detail with Chief Secretary SC Mohapatra, Industries Secretary Hemant Sharma and other officials.
Meanwhile, the Odisha government secured a large number of investment commitments during the investment summit. During this, several MoUs were signed in the electronics and IT sector. An official said that the state has received total direct investment commitments of Rs 8,200 crore, which will create over 40,000 job opportunities.
Companies that have made investment commitments include Intel, Oracle, GlobalFoundries, Jupiter Solar, Deloitte, IBM, Happiest Mind and Adani Group.
