Santosh’s early education took place in his village Kadwa. After that he got admission in Bhimrao Ambedkar Residential School of Bhagalpur. When Santosh was studying in class seven. During that time the teacher of Judo Karate came to his school. All the students of Santosh’s class were taking training from the teacher. Santosh also joined the training line along with all the children. The older students present there pushed him and chased him away saying he was short in height.

After being banished from karate training, Santosh felt that he could never play this sport again. His spirits started breaking, he was troubled inside by the lack of height. He was very upset, so he got the support of two seniors in difficult times. First Subodh Kumar Das encouraged Santosh and boosted his morale. Then Santosh took the initial lessons of karate in Rajesh Kumar Shah’s academy. After this, his spirits gradually lifted. His mother used to say that there is a lot of risk in the game. But in front of Santosh’s stubbornness, his mother surrendered and fully supported her son. She used to give money to Santosh for his expenses, hiding from his father.
