New Delhi, 28 September, On Wednesday, the Popular Front of India (PFI) and several of its allies were banned for five years by the Modi government at the Center on charges of terror funding and involvement in terrorist activities. Sufi and Barelvi clerics have welcomed this decision of the central government. The President of All India Sufi Sajjadanashin Parishad (AISSC) said in a statement that if action has been taken to curb extremism, then everyone should show patience and welcome the move of the government and agencies.

In the statement, the Sufi clerics stressed that the nation is bigger than any institution or idea. In such a situation, if someone talks about breaking the country, then he has no right to live here. All India Sufi Sajjadanashin Parishad is always committed to the unity, sovereignty and peace of the country. The council will continue to raise its voice against the anti-national forces in future also.

At the same time, Maulana Shahabuddin Razvi Barelvi, President of All India Muslim Jamaat has also issued a video statement regarding this decision of the Central Government. Through this statement, he has appreciated the step to rein in extremism. The Barelvi Ulema had earlier called for a ban on the Popular Front of India (PFI) for alleged terror activities. After the raids by the NIA, ED and the state police, Maulana Razvi asserted that the raids made it clear that the Islamic fundamentalist organization has been involved in communal riots in various states across the country.

Apart from this, the Barelvi sect from Bareilly in Uttar Pradesh has demanded the central government to immediately ban such organizations to protect the unity and integrity of the country. Maulana Barelvi has also supported the action taken by the government to crack down on terrorist activities across India.
