Syed Adil Zahoor of Jammu and Kashmir has become a living example of success by passing the ISS exam. Adil Zahoor is only the second Kashmiri to pass this tough and prestigious exam.
Baramulla of Jammu and Kashmir will now be known as Syed Adil Zahoor. Actually, Adil has passed the prestigious examination of the Indian Statistical Service (ISS). He has earned the distinction of being only the second person from Kashmir to crack this exam. His success is being celebrated all over Jammu and Kashmir including Baramulla.
Adil cleared the exam in his first attempt, reports TheKashmirImage.com. “There is no substitute for hard work,” said Adil, currently working as a Panchayat Accounts Assistant at the Block Development Office, Kupwara District, Kaziabad. Worked to feed my family. I also struggled a lot and finally got a rank in ISS exam. I am very happy.”
Adil said, “I used to walk for miles to reach the high school and college located in Baramulla, as there was no road in my village. Later the road was built but it is completely hilly. No connectivity.” On the question of message for the youth of Jammu and Kashmir, he said, hard work is the key to success. Everyone wants to get success but success kisses the feet of only those who work smartly in present times.
One must have strong belief in oneself, self-confidence and a positive attitude, he said. You should give your best. Then leave the success to the almighty and there should be no remorse for not giving the best. Adil Zahoor, the son of a private school employee, credited his parents for his success after thanking Almighty Allah. He said, I am proud to be a student of Government Middle School Hajibal. Got amazing teachers. I did my secondary education from Government High School Baramulla and passed my 12th class examination from Government Boys Higher Secondary School Baramulla. Later I studied Bachelor of Arts from Government Degree College Boys Baramulla.
He pursued master’s degree from University of Kashmir, where he also got Junior Research Fellowship opportunity in 2020. He also qualified for Accounts Assistant exam conducted by J&K Services Selection Board in 2021. He is the last Kashmiri Haji Altaf to pass the exam. According to the report, Haji is now holding the post of Deputy Director General. He had earlier headed the NSSO operations in Kashmir as well.

The picturesque village Hajibal is situated in the high mountains. It is 14 kilometers away from the main city of Baramulla and has been designated as a tourist spot. As soon as the news of Adil’s selection in the prestigious ISS exam came, a wave of happiness ran across the village. There is atmosphere, hundreds of people, relatives and friends reached his family to congratulate Adil’s family.
Adil’s friend and cousin Ashiq Hussain said that her achievement will certainly inspire many young boys and girls to pursue their goals in life. The best thing about him is his humble nature. Even after such a remarkable achievement, he is in a comfortable position. He said, no passion is small or big. Your passion and hard work defines life. Success stories like these are proof that one can achieve anything if they have the courage and dedication to follow their dreams.
Syed Shahnawaz Bukhari and Syed Sajjad Bukhari, two brothers from the remote village of Hajibal, have already cleared the JKAS (Jammu Kashmir Administrative Service) exam. Both the youths are presently posted at high positions in the Civil Administration and Police Administration of Jammu and Kashmir.
