Telangana Finance Minister T Harish Rao presented a budget of Rs 2,90,396 crore for the year 2023-24 in the state assembly today. There is a 13 per cent increase in the outlay this year as against the budget of Rs 2.56 lakh crore for 2022-23. Finance Minister Harish Rao proposed Rs 2,11,685 crore for revenue expenditure and Rs 37,525 crore for capital expenditure out of the total budget estimate of Rs 2.90 lakh crore for 2023-24.
The budget proposes Rs 17,700 crore for Dalit Bandhu scheme, Rs 12,000 crore for Aasara pension, Rs 500 crore for providing basic facilities in universities and Rs 11,372 crore for municipal administration and urban development. He said that despite the restrictions and discrimination by the Center, Telangana has not compromised on the development and welfare programs of the people.
Harish Rao said that the per capita income of the state is estimated to increase from Rs 1,12,162 in 2013-14 to Rs 3,17,115 in 2023-24. This is 86 per cent more than the national per capita income of Rs 1,70,620. The per capita income of Telangana is Rs 1,46,495 higher than the national per capita income. This is clearly a sign of significant development of Telangana.
