Telangana: Government school students doing better than corporate schools: Education Minister

HYDERABAD: Telangana Education Minister P Sabita Indra Reddy on Thursday said students of state-run residential schools are performing better than students of corporate schools in academic and competitive examinations.
Laying the foundation stone for classes at the Zilla Parishad High School in Nomula, with an estimated cost of Rs 1.06 crore under the ‘Mana Ooru Mana Badi’ programme, Indra Reddy said the state government has been successful in improving the quality and facilities of education. On par with government schools and corporate schools, he said that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is keen to provide quality education to poor students as well.
The Education Minister said that government schools are being strengthened with Rs 7,000 crore under the Mana Ooru Mana Badi programme. He said that after 2014, a total of 1150 junior, degree and post graduation colleges were established in the state. Apart from this, 1000 residential educational institutions were established to provide education facility to poor students with hostel facility.
Emphasizing the need to encourage students towards sports, he said that soon physical education teachers would be posted in all the schools by filling the vacant posts.
