Telangana government’s efforts paid off, state will get mega textile park

All the efforts put in by the Telangana government in the last 6 years have finally paid off and the Center has finally announced the setting up of a mega textile park in the state.

Finally, the BJP-led Center has considered the long-pending demand of the Telangana government to set up a mega textile park in the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday announced that a mega textile park will be set up in Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh under PM MITRA (Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel).
Barring Tamil Nadu and Telangana, there are five other BJP-ruled states in which these parks are being set up. The Centre’s assistance for these parks – classified into greenfield and brownfield – will be 51 per cent and the balance will be borne by the respective state governments.
It may be noted that Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and Handloom Minister KT Rama Rao had personally appealed to the Prime Minister to set up a mega textile park in Telangana. All the efforts put in by the Telangana government over the past six years have finally paid off and the Center has finally announced the setting up of a mega textile park in the state.
After the closure of the Azamji mill long ago and considering the rich history of Warangal, the state government decided to set up a mega textile park. For this, 2,000 acres of land was allotted at Shyampet. The Chief Minister had also laid the foundation stone of the Mega Textile Park on October 22, 2017.
