A Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by city commissioner CV Anand along with six other officials will probe the alleged attempt by BJP-linked touts to buy TRS MLAs in Telangana. The Director General of Police (DGP) has constituted the team. Ahead of the November 3 by-election to Munugode assembly constituency, Cyberabad police on October 26 arrested three people from a farmhouse for allegedly luring four TRS MLAs (including Rohit Reddy) in Hyderabad to join the saffron party. Based on the complaint given by Rohit Reddy, a case has been registered under sections 120-B (criminal conspiracy), 171-B (bribery) along with 171-E (punishment for bribery). Section 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) is read along with Section 34 (Acts done by several persons with common intention) and Section 8 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
