Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday said that PM Mitra Mega Textile Parks will be set up in Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. About three lakh people will get direct and indirect employment with the formation of Textile Park and an investment of about Rs 70 thousand crore will come. These parks are to be completed by 2027-28. In UP, this park will be built on one thousand acres in Lucknow. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced this on Twitter on Friday.

The aim is to establish India as a global center

Actually, the objective of PM Mitra Park is to establish India as a global hub for textile manufacturing and exports. The proposed parks are expected to enhance the competitiveness of the textile industry. Apart from this, global giants can be attracted to invest in India. Through this scheme, an investment of Rs 70,000 crore and creation of 20 lakh jobs has been envisaged through parks.

Mega Textile Park will be built in these cities

Mega Textile Parks will be set up at Lucknow in Uttar Pradesh, Amravati in Maharashtra, Warangal in Telangana, Virudhunagar in Tamil Nadu, Kalaburagi in Karnataka, Dhar in Madhya Pradesh and Navsari in Gujarat.

Preparations speed up in Tamil Nadu and Telangana for the park

The State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu Limited (SIPCOT) has already acquired 1,500 acres of land for a mega textile park at Kumaralingapuram village in Virudhunagar district. Apart from this, Kakatiya Mega Textile Park (KMTP) in Warangal, Telangana is expected to get additional funds under this scheme.

Similarly, the Government of Karnataka has already earmarked 1550 acres of land in Firozabad, Nadisinnur and Kirnagi villages of Kalaburagi district for the development of Textile Park. The Maharashtra government had recommended setting up of a brownfield park in Amravati (Vidarbha region) and Aurangabad (Marathwada region) under PM Mitra. Maharashtra, which generates 28 per cent of the country’s total cotton production, is planning to build textile hubs in the underdeveloped regions of Vidarbha and Marathwada.

Proposal to set up Mega Textile Park in Navsari, Gujarat

The Gujarat government has proposed to set up a mega textile park at Navsari in South Gujarat. The state government is acquiring 2,383 acres of land for the project. Out of the total area of ​​this mega park, 50% will be used for manufacturing activities, 20% will be used for setting up utilities, 10% will be used for running financial activities, 5% of the area will be used for Will be done to set up logistics. Support, 10% of the area will be earmarked for residential accommodation while 5% will be set aside for research and training.

It will be the responsibility of the state governments

State Governments will be responsible for providing contiguous and encumbrance free land parcels of at least 1000 acres of land. They will also facilitate provision of all utilities, a reliable power supply and water availability and waste disposal system, and an effective single window clearance system. The parks will provide state-of-the-art infrastructure, plug-and-play facilities as well as training and research facilities for the industry.
