New Omicron-Research Is Changing Symptoms Over and Over
A lot of changes are being seen in the symptoms of the new Omicron variant of Kovid-19. Recently it was reported that infected patients are not showing the basic symptoms of Kovid such as fever, loss of taste and smell or complaints of shortness of breath. Rather, symptoms such as cough and headache had started appearing for a long time. But, recently experts have found that its symptoms have changed again. They say that in the new variant of Kovid which is related to BA.2, the old symptom of fever has returned.
82% of 200 Indian patients had fever
Last week an article was published in the Curious Journal of Medical Science. According to which, in more than 200 patients of India who were infected with several strains of BA.2, symptoms of fever were seen in 82% of them. Only half had cough and more than one-third had cold symptoms. Other symptoms included fatigue (27%), headache (21%), and muscle pain (20%).
Mostly mild cases
According to the report, it is a matter of relief that most of the cases were mild. Only 5% of patients required hospitalisation. A little over 4% required oxygen and three patients died. It also states that ‘none was given steroids, immunomodulatory drugs or monoclonal antibodies’. However, the new symptoms reported are different from the symptoms recently released by the Zoe Health study.
Fever was not a symptom in another research
Whereas, according to the ZOE COVID Study app that tracks Covid symptoms, most patients experienced mild symptoms like sneezing and headache after getting the vaccine. Sneezing, sore throat, nasal congestion, cough and headache are associated with Omicron symptoms, according to the app, which tracks symptoms for thousands of patients in the US and UK. According to this, ‘excessive sneezing can indicate that a vaccinated person has got Kovid-19. However, it is mild so get tested and isolate yourself for the safety of friends, family and colleagues.
