New Delhi, June 03: Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan has written a letter to five states on Friday in view of the spurt in corona virus cases in the country. These include Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Telangana, Karnataka and Maharashtra. These are the states where the maximum number of corona cases are being reported at this time. These states have been instructed by the Ministry of Health to be careful. On June 3, more than 4 thousand cases were reported in the country, which is 8.9 percent more than Thursday. Of these, 33.9 percent i.e. 1,370 new cases have been found in Kerala alone.

Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan has written in the letter, ‘It is necessary that the state should maintain strict vigil. Take action, if necessary, to control any emerging spread of the infection. He said, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare will continue the necessary support for this in this collective effort. States have been advised to do intensive surveillance, more testing, tracking.

According to the Health Ministry, 11 districts of Kerala, 2 districts of Tamil Nadu, 6 districts of Maharashtra, one district of Karnataka and Telangana have seen an increase in corona cases. Union Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan has asked the states to continue the surveillance and testing of corona cases as well as genome sequencing for the prescribed samples.

Apart from this, he has asked the states to strictly implement the COVID protocol. Monitor clusters of new COVID-19 cases and do adequate tracing as per guidelines. Apart from this, the state will have to focus on monitoring Influenza Like Illness (ILI) and SARI cases in all health facilities on a regular basis to detect early warning signs of infection.
