The deputy commissioner says, “It seems that some kind of construction work is going on in the higher reaches of the river, which originates from China. Landslides in high altitude areas can also be the reason for this. But, till the reason is not clear, local people, especially fishermen and farmers, have become concerned about the changing color of the Siang river water. Migom Pertin, a local resident in Pasighat, said, “The heavy slag in the water can kill aquatic creatures. Farmers also take water from the river. Our cattle also drink the water of the river. We are concerned that the livelihood of the people may not be affected due to this. ,

The Siang River is a tributary of the Brahmaputra River, which is 1,600 km long and is called the Yarlung Tsangpo in China. It originates from southern Tibet and enters India, after which it is called Siang and the district of Arunachal Pradesh is also named after it. Some media reports have feared that China is involved in some dam construction work, due to which the Siang river is getting polluted in this way. (Input-PTI and ANI)
