New Delhi, 29 September: Three new cases of monkeypox have been reported in Delhi, which has raised the concern of the health department. After the arrival of three new cases, the total number of monkeypox patients in Delhi city has gone up to 12.
Monkeypox is a zoonotic disease
Let us tell you that monkeypox is a rare disease similar to smallpox which is caused by monkeypox viral. It is a zoonotic disease, in which common symptoms such as fever, skin rash, lymphadenopathy, headache, muscle pain, tiredness, chills or sweating, and sore throat and cough are seen in the patient.
LNJP Hospital admits five monkeypox patients
After the arrival of three new patients in Delhi, there has been a stir. According to sources, at present five monkeypox patients are admitted in Delhi’s LNJP Hospital. In which there is a 30-year-old Nigerian woman who recently got a positive report.

Monkeypox, which started in some countries of Europe from the month of May, has spread to other countries including India. The first case in India was reported in Kerala, that person had a foreign travel history. According to sources, out of the total 12 patients found in Delhi so far, five patients are admitted in Delhi LNJP Hospital. The first positive report of the virus came from Nigerian citizens in Delhi, it was the eighth and ninth case of Delhi. Many people have died globally since 2022.
These symptoms were found in Delhi patients
According to a recent study conducted by Lok Nayak Jai Prakash Narayan Hospital (LNJP) and Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), the first five patients of monkeypox were found to have mild fever, muscle pain and sores. These lesions were seen on the genitals, waist, lower limbs, trunk and upper limbs of the patients.
The first case of monkeypox was reported in Delhi on July 24.
Significantly, the first case of monkeypox was registered in the country’s capital Delhi on July 24. LNJP Hospital has been made the nodal hospital for the treatment of viral infection patients. Monkeypox patients and suspected patients of Delhi are referred to this hospital. However, at present there is no suspected patient admitted to monkeypox in this hospital.
