Turkey refuses to accept wheat consignment sent from India

New Delhi, 01 June. The Turkish administration has rejected the wheat consignment sent by India. Turkish authorities refused to accept this consignment, complaining of phytosanitary in this consignment. After which Shiva, who had reached Turkey with this consignment on May 29, had to return. With the return of this 15 million ton wheat consignment, the difficulties of the traders of India have increased. According to S&P Global Commodity, MV Inse was loaded with 56877 tonnes of wheat in Acadinese, which is now returning from Kandla Port.

On behalf of S&P, it has been said that the wheat consignment had a disease named Rubella, due to which Turkey’s Ministry of Agriculture refused to accept it. However, nothing has been said by the Agriculture Minister of India in this regard so far. Let us tell you that these shipments were sent before the ban on export of wheat was imposed by India. It was sent by a private company. In April, India banned wheat exports after rising inflation rates. Last month, wheat prices had increased by 20 per cent, due to which the export of wheat was stopped. However, the government did not impose this restriction on the consignments that had left before the ban.

Abhishek Aggarwal of trading firm Comtrade said that rubella disease is a serious problem in Indian plants, due to which consignment sent abroad, this is probably the first time when wheat from India has been returned. is a serious issue. Though India is not a major wheat exporter, there are many other countries which export wheat but its exports have been affected due to the Russo-Ukraine war. Exporters had exported around 7 million tonnes of wheat in March 2022. India has a huge opportunity to export wheat due to Ukraine war.
