President Putin and PM Modi meeting
President Putin’s aide Yuri Ushakov said that both PM Modi and President Vladimir Putin will hold talks on the international agenda. The two leaders will discuss the situation in the Asia Pacific region, issues of strategic stability of the side and of course, cooperation within major multilateral formats such as the United Nations, G20. It is reported that India will lead the SCO and also chair the G20. Yuri Ushakov said that the meeting of the two leaders is even more important because India will chair the UN Security Council in December and will also lead the SCO and chair the G20 in 2023. At the same time, there is news that, apart from Russian President Putin, PM Modi is expected to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping.
Hectic schedule of SCO summit
According to sources, PM Modi is likely to have a bilateral meeting with Putin and Uzbekistan President Shaukat Mirziyoyev on the sidelines of the SCO summit in Samarkand. A source told news agency ANI that PM Modi’s bilateral meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Uzbekistan President Shaukat Mirziyoyev is almost fixed and the meetings will take place on the sidelines of the SCO summit in Samarkand.
Looking forward to meeting Xi Jinping
The Prime Minister will also have other bilateral meetings during the summit beginning in Samarkand, Uzbekistan from September 14. Indian Ambassador to Uzbekistan Manish Prabhat had earlier said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would attend the summit and hold bilateral meetings with several leaders. Ambassador Prabhat told in an exclusive interview to ANI, ‘The leaders of the SCO member countries are meeting after two years due to the Kovid epidemic. There will be some bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the SCO. Nevertheless, the schedule of the meetings will be finalised.
India to lead SCO in 2023
Indian Ambassador Manish Prabhat told that, “Economic cooperation in SCO is an important question which will be discussed in SCO meetings. Anyway when we are meeting with Central Asian countries, we discuss connectivity which The summit will boost trade, investment and other exchanges between Indian and Central Asian countries, while Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi are also expected to attend the summit. Uzbekistan is the chair of the SCO 2022. India will be the next President of the SCO in 2023.
