Lucknow, 19 September: Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh has announced that about 1780 government schools in 890 blocks of the state will be upgraded under centrally sponsored PM Schools. These schools will be developed keeping in mind all the aspects of the National Policy on Education (NEP) which will help in strengthening basic education. Actually more than 14,500 schools across the country are to be developed as PM Shri Schools under NEP 2020. The scheme will be implemented with a total project cost of Rs 27,360 crore for a period of five years from the year 2022.

Deepak Kumar, principal secretary of basic education in UP, said a meeting was held in Delhi on Friday where Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan spoke about the scheme. Uttar Pradesh Basic Education Minister Sandeep Singh and Secondary Education Minister Gulab Devi and others attended.

He said that we are waiting for the details and other modalities to upgrade some of our schools under PM Shree Yojana. One primary and one secondary school in each block will be upgraded under the scheme.

UP’s Director General of School Education Vijay Kiran Anand said, “890 primary and many secondary schools in UP will be upgraded as per the central government scheme.” will be based on the application of knowledge and will be competency-based.

A School Quality Assessment Framework (SQAF) is being developed, specifying key performance indicators to measure outcomes. Quality assessment of these schools will be done at regular intervals to ensure the desired standards.

PM Shree schools will be selected through a challenge mode in which schools compete to become Adarsh ​​Schools. The schools will be registered on the online portal. The portal will be opened four times in a year. Once for the first two years of the scheme and every quarter thereafter. Primary schools and secondary and higher secondary schools will be nominated for selection under the scheme. The selection will be done through a three-stage process with definite timelines.
