Samajwadi Party and Rashtriya Lok Dal will contest the upcoming by-elections in Uttar Pradesh together. SP candidate will contest on Mainpuri Lok Sabha and Rampur assembly seat and RLD candidate will contest from Khatauli assembly seat. This announcement has been made on Wednesday from the official Twitter handle of Samajwadi Party. Voting will be held on December 5 for Rampur assembly seat, Khatauli assembly seat of Muzaffarnagar, and Mainpuri Lok Sabha seat. Counting of votes will take place on December 8.

Mainpuri seat vacant after the death of Mulayam Singh Yadav

SP has made it clear that SP and RLD will contest elections together on these three seats. Recently, RLD chief Jayant Chaudhary had also claimed that the candidate would be fielded on the symbol of RLD from Khatauli assembly seat.
Mainpuri seat has fallen vacant after the death of SP Patron and MP Mulayam Singh Yadav. At the same time, Azam Khan had to lose the Rampur assembly seat after being sentenced by the court in the controversial statement case.

At the same time, the membership of BJP MLA Vikram Saini has also been canceled in Khatauli seat of Muzaffarnagar. Court sentenced Vikram Saini in Muzaffarnagar Kawal riots. In the assembly elections held in 2022, BJP won this seat by defeating the joint candidate of RLD-SP. Vikram Saini had become an MLA from here, but due to the cancellation of his membership, this seat has become vacant. By-election is going on in this seat now.
