Miami, June 7 : A two-year-old boy shot and killed his father in Florida, USA. According to the police, the child’s father had left the loaded gun at an unsafe place in the house, when the child picked up the gun and fired it at the father. According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office report, Reggie Mabry (name of the child’s deceased father) was shot while he was playing a video game.

According to the report, the family of Mabry (26 years) lives in Metro Orlando. Mabry is survived by his wife Mary Ayala and three children.

Orange County Sheriff John Mina told a news conference: “The gun was not stored properly. Due to this a two-year-old boy reached it and accidentally shot his father. Meena said that Mary Ayala has been charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder due to negligence.

The sheriff further said that the child’s parents were drug addicts and were unable to properly care for their children due to this reason. He was also accused of several offenses related to drug abuse and neglect of children. He was on parole when the incident happened.

According to officials, Ayala told investigators that her five-year-old son told her that her two-year-old brother had fired the gun, but the older brother could not explain how his younger brother obtained the weapon. According to officials, the children were not harmed in the incident and have been transferred to the care of the Florida Department of Children and Family.

“If the gun had been kept in a safe place, the incident could have been prevented,” the sheriff said. Expressing concern, he said, now these young children have effectively lost both their parents. A young child must live with the shock that he shot his father.
