Mahesh Jethmalani told Jairam – Chinese stomach
Rajya Sabha MP and senior Supreme Court lawyer Mahesh Jethmalani on Tuesday made very serious allegations against Congress leader Jairam Ramesh regarding his links with China, calling him ‘China’s pet’. After earlier targeting Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Jethmalani on Tuesday shared excerpts from Jairam’s book alleging that he had been lobbying since 2005 for the banned Chinese telecom company. Significantly, the Congress has been continuously trying to corner the Modi government regarding the border dispute with China and has made many sensational claims.
‘Jairam Ramesh seems to be taking an anti-India and pro-China line’
Speaking to news agency ANI, Jethmalani said about him, ‘As far as Jairam Ramesh being a pet of China is concerned, it is very clear. I have shared a link in which the Chinese are praising him and telling the Indian government to pay heed to what he is saying…..as a responsible Indian I am worried that he is crossing the sensitive border Challenging India’s position on the issue. He questioned that ‘I am concerned that from someone with such a background, if this was done in the spirit of information from an MP, then there was nothing wrong. But, you (Jairam Ramesh) seem to be taking an anti-India and pro-China line…… are you talking about India’s genuine concern or motivated interest…..’
Jairam should disclose his relations with Chinese company- Jethmalani
Earlier, Jethmalani had made a tweet, in which he tried to expose Jairam’s alleged polemic by sharing excerpts from his book. He wrote, ‘Since 2005, Jairam Ramesh has been lobbying for the Indian activities of Chinese telecom company Huawei. Huawei has been banned in many countries considering it a threat to security. Jairam Ramesh now questions the Indian government’s stand on China. They are required to disclose their ties to Huawei.
Jairam is also in discussion about Digvijay’s statement
The Rajya Sabha MP has made such serious allegations about Jairam Ramesh when he is also in discussion about the remarks made by another veteran Congress leader Digvijay Singh on the surgical strike against Pakistan in 2016. Jairam Ramesh was seen forcefully pushing journalists when Digvijay Singh was asked for clarification on his statement during Congress’ Bharat Jodo Yatra.

There has already been a ruckus on Digvijay’s statement
On Monday, the Bharatiya Janata Party launched a scathing attack against the Congress for questioning the 2016 surgical strike by the Indian Army. The party also accused the Congress of speaking the language of Pakistan on the Pulwama terror attack in which 40 CRPF personnel were killed. In fact, Digvijay had said in a press conference during Bharat Jodo Yatra that the central government has not yet been able to present the report of surgical strike and Pulwama terror attack in the Parliament and the government is only spreading lies on these issues. However, the Congress party and its leader Rahul Gandhi have distanced themselves from his statement.
