Prashant Kishor reveals the ‘real’ reason for the violence

The rift between the BJP-JDU alliance is clearly visible in the manner in which the Nitish Kumar government in Bihar has failed to stop the violence that broke out against the ‘Agneepath scheme’. The scheme has been announced by the Narendra Modi government at the Center and for a few days initially, rioters in Bihar have appeared to have got a kind of ‘discount’. Whereas, the responsibility of law and order is in the hands of the state government and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar himself has the responsibility of the home department. Now election strategist Prashant Kishor has also told the mutual tussle between the two ruling parties as the reason for this violence.

PK has said in a tweet, ‘There should be a movement on Agneepath, not violence and sabotage. The people of Bihar are bearing the brunt of the mutual tussle between JDU and BJP. Bihar is burning and the leaders of both the parties are busy slinging and accusing each other instead of solving the matter. It is worth mentioning that NDA is a coalition government in Bihar, which is headed by Nitish Kumar and BJP is involved in it.

BJP holds the administration responsible for not stopping the violence

In fact, as the agitation against the Agneepath scheme in Bihar turned violent, state BJP president Sanjay Jaiswal accused Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s government of “failing to stop the attacks” on the residences and party offices of BJP leaders. “It is unacceptable to target people at the behest of the administration and damage the offices of a particular political party while the police are mute spectators,” he said. He said that ‘we are part of the ruling coalition, but the way it happened here, it has not happened anywhere in the country’. This is happening only in Bihar. As a BJP leader, I condemn this incident and if it does not stop then it will not be good for anyone. Regarding the attack on his house, Jaiswal said, “On Friday, when the protesters attacked my house in Bettiah district, we called the fire brigade…. The firemen said that they would do so only after getting permission from the local administration.” Will.’

In response to Jaiswal’s allegations, JD(U) national president Rajiv Ranjan alias Lalan Singh pointed to protests against the Agneepath scheme in other BJP-ruled states as well. The JDU leader, who is considered very special to CM Nitish, said, ‘The central government has taken a decision. Demonstrations have also taken place in other states. The youth are worried about their future, so they have come forward in protest. Of course, violence is not the way. We cannot accept violence. But, BJP should also listen, what is troubling the youth and what is worrying about it. Instead BJP is blaming the administration. He also said that ‘why is Jaiswal not talking about the failure of security forces in BJP ruled states?’

Since the announcement of the Agneepath scheme for recruitment in the armed forces by the Modi government, rioters have been rampant in Bihar and public properties are being damaged by endangering the lives of common people. The miscreants have torched several trains, buses and private vehicles and attacked private places including public buildings. According to the statement of Bihar Police, at least 718 people have been arrested in cases related to violence since Thursday. Prashant Kishor was expelled from JDU in 2020 after he started targeting its ally BJP over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). JD(U) had accused Kishor of “acting against the party’s decision and its way of functioning” and of indiscipline.
