The names of many Congress leaders have come up in the race for the post of President, but the biggest contender is being considered as the Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Ashok Gehlot. On Friday, Ashok Gehlot himself, while talking to the media, said that he will contest the election for the post of president and will soon reveal the date of his nomination. Meanwhile, Ashok Gehlot has also disclosed a big statement of Congress MP Rahul Gandhi.
While talking to the media on Friday, CM Ashok Gehlot said, ‘Congress MP Rahul Gandhi has made it clear that the next president of the party should not be from the Gandhi family. I requested him many times that you accept the proposal of all the party people and accept the post of Congress President. But, he has categorically denied it.
Ashok Gehlot further said, ‘It has been decided in the meeting with the party leaders that I will contest for the post of Congress President. Very soon I will reveal the date of nomination also. In view of the current situation of the country, it is necessary for the opposition to be strong. The further process will be decided by Congress General Secretary Ajay Maken and party President Sonia Gandhi.
