Hyderabad, Nov 13- Pharma City, the world’s largest pharmaceutical cluster, has got all the necessary approvals and is all set to launch soon. IT and Industries Minister KT Rama Rao said here on Saturday that work on the 19,000-acre project, which will help pharma companies achieve economy of scale, is progressing fast. Two years ago, Prime Minister Narendra Modi called on politicians across the country to take feedback on what needs to be done to put India on the highway of development. “Telangana suggested the 3I mantra- innovation, infrastructure and inclusiveness. The state is following it and the results have been very encouraging,” he said. Innovation was not just a matter of the technology sector. This could happen in governance as well, he said, adding that the state’s industrial policy TS-iPASS was one such innovation. Good practices were studied in select markets before it was announced and it introduced a single window system for industries and clearances were granted within 15 days. If there is no valid reason for the delay, the proposals are considered on the 16th day.

It also had provisions for imposing penalties on officials responsible for delays and meeting or defeating incentives offered by other states. So far, around 20,000 industrial proposals have been approved in the last eight years on the basis of self-certification from companies and this has led to an investment of $35 billion (around Rs 2.83 lakh crore) and direct employment to around 16 lakh people. The state is also focusing on reducing the cost of doing business for industries. The industries having land can directly start construction of their units without the approval of many departments. However, details of investment, employment generation and other details have to be provided online along with self-certification. Telangana is now home to the largest incubator, T-Hub, and India’s largest prototyping center, T-Works.

It has established other bodies like TSIC, RICH, WE-Hub and others. The state is focusing on creating an enabling infrastructure with an aim to ensure that growth takes place across Telangana and not just around Hyderabad. Companies in India have huge potential to tap as many players are looking to the China plus one model for their operations post the pandemic. This approach will ensure that activities are not disrupted in future. The last pillar is inclusiveness or making all partners in development. The state’s eight-year per capita income was Rs 1.24 lakh and now it has increased to Rs 2.78 lakh, which is the highest in the country. The GSDP of Telangana was Rs 5.05 lakh crore in 2014 and now it has increased to Rs 11.55 lakh crore. If all the sectors had seen the same growth as in Telangana, the country would have crossed $6 trillion in economy. However, it is still pegged at $3.1 trillion economy, he said. Hyderabad now has about a third of the vaccines produced in the world.

With various expansion plans by several entities, the vaccine capacity will increase from the current nine billion doses to 14 billion doses, which is about 50% of the total vaccines production capacity, in a few years. He placed on record the good work done by his predecessors in promoting the life science sector. Digital revolution is taking place in a big way and the industry cannot miss this Industry 4.0 opportunity. I

So Telangana is driving innovation through institutional set-ups because today’s start-ups are tomorrow’s multinationals, Rama Rao said. Technology giant Amazon has the largest campus of 3.1 million sq ft in Hyderabad. Many big names like Apple, Google, Uber, Salesforce, Qualcomm, Novartis and many more have a huge presence in Hyderabad. IT exports have reached Rs 1.83 lakh crore from Rs 57,000 crore eight years ago. Hyderabad surpassed Bengaluru in office space absorption for four quarters, stating the dynamic nature of the city. Bengaluru, on the other hand, were rising because of the inertia effect of their early starts, he said. He said that Hyderabad has performed well as compared to other metros in terms of traffic, climate, pollution and other parameters.

The state focused on completing the world’s largest lift irrigation project, the Kaleshwaram Project. It is creating five revolutions- Green (Foodgrains), Blue (Fisheries), White (Milk), Pink (Meat) and Yellow (Edible Oil) revolutions. Southern states account for about 35% of the GDP, the minister said. , It was attended by former CJI Justice NV Ramana. Suchitra Ella, President, CII Southern Region and Shri Kam
