Lucknow, June 19: The emphasis of the industrial policies of the Yogi Adityanath government is to increase exports from all the districts. Industrial development should be equally in all areas, but in the meantime, the central government has included in its plan to develop six districts of the state as potential hubs with high export potential.

UP CM Yogi says six districts will be developed as potential hubs

These districts are Kanpur, Gautam Budh Nagar, Moradabad, Agra, Varanasi and Bhadohi, where efforts will be made to increase exports from small towns of these districts by strengthening trade infrastructure. After the formation of the BJP government in the state, from 2017 onwards, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath started special efforts to encourage this in view of the strength of the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector in the state.

In order to increase exports holistically, for the first time a scheme like One District One Product (ODOP) was launched in 2018. The result of that was that despite the great impact of corona infection for two-and-a-half years, the number of exports kept increasing. In five years, the exports from the state increased from Rs 86 thousand crores to Rs 1,56, 000 crores.

The Yogi government is working with a target of taking this figure to three lakh crore rupees. Meanwhile, if the central government plans to develop fifty districts of the country as potential hubs for exports, special priority has been given to Uttar Pradesh. Six districts of the state Kanpur, Gautam Budh Nagar, Moradabad, Agra, Varanasi and Bhadohi have been included for the pilot project of this scheme.

The objective of the scheme is to develop trade infrastructure as well as other business facilities in small towns and cities of these districts. Activities will be increased here, so that the businessmen of small towns also become partners in increasing exports from the district, as well as the scope of employment generation will also increase. According to this scheme of the Central Government, an amount of Rs 40 crore will be given to the selected districts to make them potential hubs.

In this, 60 percent central share and 40 percent state share is proposed. With this money, common service centers and infrastructure will be developed for entrepreneurs. An Export Development Center will also be set up. Additional Chief Secretary MSME Dr. Navneet Sehgal informed that various facilities will be provided in the identified districts to promote exports. Efforts will be made that through this scheme, new businesses should also be promoted and they should be encouraged to export.

By creating a district export hub, the problems of the entrepreneurs there will be redressed immediately. Also, information about the market and other guidelines will be given. In addition they will be directly linked to the buyer. Assistance will also be given for pack house, cold storage and co-generation facility etc.
